How to set up your utmesh email account
The UTmesh mail server is a service added to the K7MSH Mesh network. This mail server adds flexibility to our network. The mail server is connected to both the mesh network and an internet gateway. With this configuration, you can send and receive emails from the mesh network, or anywhere with an internet connection. With this configuration, there are a few different ways to access your UTmesh email account.
The first option to access your account is to use the webmail feature. Webmail uses Roundcube mail and is simple to use. From the mesh network, you can access the webmail at http://utmesh-mail.local.mesh/roundcubemail/.
Access the Webmail from the internet at http://mail.utmesh.com.
you can also set up an email client if you would like to, and the process is pretty straight forward. Here are the steps for using Thunderbird.
- Click here to Download Thunderbird
- After installing and Launching Thunderbird, Select “Create New Account”
- Select the name you want to link to your account, I suggest using your callsign.
- Enter your Email address as callsign@utmesh.com
- Enter the password for your utmesh email account, check the “Remember password” checkbox, and click Continue
If Thunderbird fails to create the account, you can set up your account manually with the following settings.
Incoming IMAP: mail.utmesh.com
Incoming Port: 143
SSL: None
Authentication: Normal Password
Outgoing SMTP: Mail.utmesh.com
Outgoing Port: 25
SSL: None
Authentication: Normal Password
Set your username(Your Callsign) in both the incoming and outgoing fields, click retest, and you should see something similar to this.
Click on done, and you will now see a warning page.
The Warning is alerting you that there is no encryption being used on this mail server. Ham radio does not allow any form of encryption, so this is expected. Click on “I understand the Risks” and click Done.
Your email account is now set up and ready for use.
